Abstract Created to provide mutual aid and education, The Workmen's Circle was established in New York in 1900 and officially chartered in 1905. Massachusetts established an Independent Workmen's Circle in 1903 to maneuver around prohibitive insurance laws, but was able to unify with the national organization in 1921. Abstract

The Companions of the Foresters of America was a social and benvolent fraternal organization that was a branch of the Foresters of America. This collection contains charter certificates, materials pertaining to the practices and rituals of the organization, songbooks, and membership and entertainment ledgers for local Boston area circles, including Franklin Park Circle #1571, Brookline Circle #1558, and Dorchester Circle #1542.
